The 2026 National Doctors’ Day theme is Honor the Calling. This theme recognizes that the practice of medicine is more than a profession — it is a commitment that shapes physicians’ days, decisions, and often their lives. Physicians support patients in routine moments and critical situations alike, offering care, guidance, leadership, and reassurance when it is needed most.

Every year on March 30, we celebrate National Doctors Day. It is a time dedicated to recognizing the commitment, compassion, and expertise physicians bring to patient care every single day. 


At Greater North Carolina Gastroenterology, this day holds special meaning. Our GI physicians are at the heart of everything we do; working tirelessly to diagnose, treat, and improve the digestive health of our communities across North Carolina.


National Doctors Day isn’t just about recognition, it’s about appreciation. It’s about pausing to acknowledge the long hours, complex decisions, and unwavering dedication our physicians demonstrate daily.  From routine screenings to life-saving procedures, our GI doctors make a difference in ways that often go unseen, but never unappreciated.

Today, we proudly celebrate Certified Nurses Day: a day dedicated to recognizing the commitment, knowledge, and excellence of nurses who have gone above and beyond to earn professional certification. 

Every March 19, employers, certification boards, education facilities, and healthcare providers celebrate and publicly acknowledge nurses who earn and maintain the highest credentials in their specialty. Certified Nurses Day honors nurses worldwide who contribute to better patient outcomes through national board certification in their specialty.​

Within gastroenterology, certification through the CGRN® (Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse) credential represents more than just letters after a name. It reflects a deep dedication to advancing clinical expertise, improving patient outcomes, and upholding the highest standards of care in our specialty.
Certified GI nurses are leaders, educators, and advocates. They bring confidence and precision to complex procedures, contribute to safer patient care, and serve as mentors who inspire the next generation of GI professionals.

Your commitment not only impacts those we care for now, but also helps nurture the next generation of excellence in our specialty. You truly are the foundation on which the future of GI continues to grow.

We also want to congratulate everyone who participated in Get Your Rear in Gear: Charlotte this weekend. This amazing event, organized by the Colon Cancer Coalition, brings our community together to raise awareness for colorectal cancer screening, support patients and survivors, and fund local education and prevention programs. Seeing our team show up for such an important cause makes us proud to be part of this specialty both inside and outside the hospital.
