My name is Pam Cowan. I have been working in GI for over 25 years and I am currently the Endoscopy and Sterile Processing Nurse Manager at WakeMed Cary Hospital. I’m in my 22nd year with WakeMed and have been a dedicated SGNA member for many years while actively serving on the GNCSGNA Board as Treasurer for the last 6 years. I’m very passionate about GI and have loved serving on the board and building relationships with others that share the same passion as me. Since adding Sterile Processing to my role, I’m am becoming more involved with Endoscopy and Endobariatrics in the OR setting in addition to learning about Sterile Processing and creating process improvements just as I’ve done in Endoscopy. I am proudly instrumental with the education in both of my areas and collaborate with my supervisors to stay active at the unit level while ensuring I share my expertise and knowledge. Being part of the GNCSGNA Board has helped me to expand my knowledge base and stay involved from both the National and Regional level. I’m excited to accept the nomination for Board Member at Large with GNCSGNA Region 42 and look forward to the possibility of continuing to be part of the most amazing Regional Board while continuing to help provide education to our regional members, my staff, our patients, and their families.
